There is no limit to the number of knots but there is a limit to the size and the type of knot. Other grade names that equate to our definition of "Mill Select" are STK Select Knotty and #2 and better. Near Clear Cedar is the one step down from CLEAR cedar - a D&BTR mill siding grade that customers can use to save serious bucks. Dutch Lap Siding has 3/8” overlap with a 1 1/4” curved recessed edge. The Dutch Lap pattern provides excellent weather protection and installs with a minimal amount of effort and material wastage.

NEAR CLEAR CEDAR
Real cedar siding is one of the most sustainable exterior siding available. It produces the least greenhouse gas, air pollution, water pollution and solid waste. Not only that — Western Red Cedar lumber is harvested from the most sustainably managed forests in the world. I think we should start sharing the good responses more often. Commonly available sizes are 1x6", 1 x 8" and 1 x 10". From a distance it gives a slightly rustic "log" impression. If you select PRIME + PAINT, the Primer coat will be evenly applied on all 4 sides. When its time for top paint coat, the machine's bottom jets are turned down to make sure the top coat is even thickness with no splash back.
Cedar Shiplap Siding Cost
Contrary to the name, Spanish cedar siding does not come from Spain. It is very popular for use in millwork and cigar humidors, but is also used as a siding material. The cost of Spanish cedar siding is about $6 to $15 per square foot.
Depending on the grade, treatment, and color, cedar bevel siding ranges from $3 to $15 per square foot on average. It is relatively similar to clapboard, as the planks also have an edge shape that is thinner on the top than the bottom. However, the difference is that the bottom edges of these planks are beveled at a 45-degree angle, which results in more dimension and a unique look. Cedar can be found in many areas of the country and comes in a few varieties and colors. Both the cedar’s location and color impact how it costs and looks. Oftentimes, it also impacts the types and grade of cedar siding available.

Dutch lap siding is different from horizontal lad siding, since it features a concave dip on the face at the top of each section. The cost of cedar Dutch lap siding ranges from $2.50 to $10 per square foot. This style of cedar siding is milled similarly to tongue and groove, with a section of the thinner area continues outside of the groove to create a channel.
Your location and the location where the cedar was harvested also impacts costs. To get the best price for your cedar siding, try to choose cedar that is local to your area. In vertical applications, be sure to bevel cut the ends and install the shiplap siding so water is directed to the outside.

Selections tend to be a bit more limited with eastern red cedar than western red cedar. Since it is plywood, cedar sheet siding has glues and other fillers that influence its behavior long-term. As such, it is typically seen as a low-grade material that features grains, knots, and irregularities.
